EGL Electrode Pumping Instructions

A.)Open main valve and evacuate units to less than 4mm (torr). Close valve.

B.)Switch on bombarder and increase to 360mA. Hold at this setting while maintaining pressure between 1 and 2 mm (torr) with main valve.

C.)When the units are at 300F/150C, increase current to 650mA.

D.)Maintain pressure between 2 and 3mm (torr) with main valve.

E.)When the electrodes are completely red and the glass has reached 450F/230C, open the main valve for a few seconds and then switch off the bombarder.

F.)With the main valve open, allow the tube to cool to around 100F/40C to 125F/50C with a vacuum gauge reading less than 5 microns.

G.)Fill the units with gas.

A.)Evacuate units. Close main valve and strike an arc in the tubes.

B.)Increase current to 360mA and evacuate a small amount with the main valve whenever the tube start to dim.

C.)When the units arc at 300F/150C, increase the current to 650mA. Continue to bombard at 650mA making sure the pressure is controlled with the main valve.

D.)When the electrodes are completely red and the glass has reached 450F/230C, open the main valve for a few seconds and then switch off the bombarder.

E.)With the main valve open, allow the tube to be cooled to around 100F/40C to 125F/50C with a vacuum reading of less than 5 microns.

F.)Fill the unit with gas.
